Firstly, I would like to thank Frank and Gerry for all they have done in the last three and a half seasons. When they arrived at the club I was still playing, but during the first half of the season I was plagued with injuries, which led to me having to retire. At this point Frank and Gerry welcomed me to help out with the coaching of the First Team which led to me becoming First Team Coach.
I have enjoyed working with them and have learnt a lot so would like to say I am very grateful! I am sure they will be back in management very soon and wish them every success. I would also like to thank Rafi Razzak for giving me this opportunity to show my capabilities. I am determined to repay his faith in me and bring success to the club.
I am very excited to be managing the team and I can’t wait for the first match. We have a squad that is as good as any in this league and it is important now that we don’t let the season slip away. There are plenty of points left to win this season and we will be going into every game with a view to picking up maximum points.
This is a huge opportunity for me and I intend to do all in my power to make it a success. I know it’s a cliché but I will be taking it one game at a time and we will see where it takes us.
Kevin Braybrook will be assisting me and he brings with him a wealth of coaching experience. After playing as a professional footballer, Kevin developed his coaching experience by working as a youth coach at Southampton FC. After 5 years at the club Kevin became a recruitment officer for Liverpool FC within the south region. Kevin completed his UEFA Pro licence and currently works as a FA coach educator, and at Newcastle united FC within their Academy recruitment department.
I did not hesitate on selecting him to be my right-hand man in this position as he is someone I totally respect and am really looking forward to working with.
Lastly, I would like to thank all the supporters for their overwhelming support throughout my many years here. I know that all the players appreciate the support you show at every match both home and away. Please do not under-estimate the positive effect you have on the team, please get behind us all between now and the end of the season.
Jason
